We packed up clothes and bathroom supplies and headed out to Children’s Hospital. When we arrived they had already moved her to her new room and had it decorated with valentine cards made by the grade-schoolers from across the street.
We met my Father and Step Mother at the hospital and we spent most of the afternoon taking turns holding Lexi and talking about how beautiful she is and how she looks a lot like me, so of course she’s beautiful.
At around 6pm, my Father and Step Mom departed on their long journey back to Elma, WA.
Our Friends (Uncle Ken and Aunt Cherie) showed up around 6:30pm and we all hung out and visited while we took turns holding Lexi and trying to decide where to go for dinner and I definitely didn’t want to eat at the cafeteria. One week of lunch, dinner and snacks is all I can take.
Just as we were deciding where to eat, the doctor came in the room and told us the best news ever. WE CAN TAKE HER HOME!!!!!!!! Roxi was obviously a little nervous, so we told the doctor we were going to grab a quick bite and discuss it, to make sure we were comfortable doing this and after dinner at the RAM, we decided that we would love to take her home.
We arrived back at the hospital at around 8:30pm and after a short discussion with the doctor and nurse, they started the process of checking her out.
After signing paperwork and picking up prescriptions, we were on our way home at around 10:30pm.
We were so excited the entire way home, just thinking about getting to hold our baby as we sat on the couch and how nice it will be to have her sleeping next to our bed in her bassinet.
We arrived at home a little after 11 and we sat up holding her and feeding her until around 2pm.
Lexi slept all night without an issue and we are now sitting around relaxing and spending time with our beautiful daughter.
We have a busy week coming up, but we get today and tomorrow to stay home and relax with our baby.
Starting Monday, we’ll give Lexi iodine 3 times a day and Tuesday we will be taking her back up to Children’s, so she can have an injection of iodine. All of the iodine is for a test they will be doing on Wednesday, where they are hoping we’ll finally know what the mass is near her kidney.
I should have more info by Thursday on whether or not they will be removing the mass on Friday.
I have to say that everyone that we worked with at Children’s Hospital was great and I don’t think there is s better place to take a sick child. This experience has really opened our eyes and we plan to start donating what we can to the Children’s Hospital and I encourage everyone to do the same.
