Cardiologist Report May 11th

First of all I need to catch everyone up on Lexi's last visit before this one.  Lexi's cardiologist said that her liver was enlarged which is  normal with her heart condition and they started her on Furosemide which is a diaretic. This med will help her heart not work so hard. So she takes this med once  a day which is actually pretty good kids are usually taking this a couple of times a day by now.  So now that I have caught you up I will start telling about Tuesdays appt.

So Lexi's appt went good but she only gained 1 or 2 ounces by their scale so to them that is not very good so they are having me up her meds to twice a day and mix her very expensive lol formula different. Instead of mixing it like the directions say I have to mix 2 tbsp to 3 oz of water. That will up her calorie intake from 20 cals to 25 cals per ounce. Then they would like to see her back in 2 weeks to see her progress.

I asked how much the kids usually weigh when they go in for surgery and the doctor said about 12 lbs usually. They still plan on doing the surgery as close to 6 mths as possible unless there is complications of some sort. One thing that isn't good is Lexi caught a cold and sometimes that will keep them from gaining weight and it can even make them have to perform the surgery sooner because of the weight issue. So hopefully Lexi will stay on the path of gaining!!  Other than that it is basically a day to day decision when the surgery will be performed.

I forgot to mention her weight is now up to 9 lb 3.5 oz and she is 23 inch long!!  She is growing just at a slower rate.
